'Araminta' Oil on Canvas 100x100cm

Artist's comment:

‘Araminta’ was a model from the Church Farm herd in Litlington and the name is a reference to her original minty colour background. The evidence of the minty origins are visible but not so much in the photo. The ‘minty’ version of Araminta hung on my studio wall for weeks until after reading about the term "value" used by the old masters, I was intrigued to return her to the easel for a complete change.

It turns out Vermeer, Rembrandt, Velázquez et al knew their onions! Araminta was transformed.'

John achieved overnight success in the 90’s for his bold paintings of cows; a subject which has remained his single focus ever since and earned him international recognition as ‘the cow man’. Light is often used to accentuate composition and backgrounds are ever changing. His fresh approach to each work has established a growing collection of powerful work. John has exhibited widely throughout the UK and internationally.

This painting is framed in the artist's signature bespoke black wooden frame. Please allow approx 6.5cm to each side of the 100x100cm canvas size.
