Mike Levy
Cup Couple Snogging
A move to a new studio has prompted Mike to depart from his signature blue and white porcelain, and develop a new collection of illustrated stoneware.
The dark brown wheel-thrown pots are coated in a creamy white clay slip and are decorated with a combination of painting and carving. His subject matter is basking nudes and birds ... the designs have a lovely deep watercolour quality and the glaze is super smooth and shiny. Each pot is a unique one-off.
These pots are not prone to chipping , due to the fact that the robust dark clay is vitrified in the kiln, making it waterproof and food safe.
Mike has been throwing pots for 40 years and has sold his work in galleries and stores as far afield as Manhattan, Tokyo, Toronto and Brighton Beachfront.
