MIMI SPENCER

Based in Brighton and Wester Ross, Mimi’s new collection has the wild highlands and islands of Scotland at its heart. Inspiration comes from faraway beaches at high or low tide, from the coppery marl of Scots heather, and the mirrored blue-silvers of distant lochs on days when they catch the clouds.

There are new unglazed finishes here too: jagged-edged, mixed clay forms suggest the raw ridges of the Torridon mountains, while in another departure, Mimi presents Cloudsong, a series of bone-white, slender sculpted forms. When the light is right, they hint at the plumed cloud formations which rise daily over the Isle of Skye.
