Market day in the Moroccan town of Essaouira attracting townsfolk and seagulls to the quayside. Inspired by a road trip through the High Atlas mountains and ending in this vibrant, coastal town with a very welcome swimming pool. Warm yellows and burnt orange tones provide a sense of space with the typical low, white houses in the background.
Kathryn has always been known for her colourful palette and varied mark making.
Kathryn Matthews studied Visual Art at the De Montfort University in Leicester (1990-93). She has exhibited widely throughout the UK and internationally with shows in New York, Massachusetts, Dubai and Paris. Her work has been published in Canada, USA and the Uk.
