Kathryn Matthews
Landscape study 8
Oil On Canvas
23 x 18cm oil on wood, framed
They are called landscape studies but this small series is actually a chance to acquire a beautifully framed, original oil painting with all of Kathryn's signature notes. These small but mighty landscapes are everything fans of Kathryn's work admire; layers of colours that sing and mark-making to lead your eye on a rich journey through a landscape both real and imagined.
Inspired by country walks in the South Downs with a sketchbook, camera and a touch of poetic licence, Kathryn interprets these views in her idiosyncratic style back in her Shoreham studio. She uses bold mark-making and an exceptional colour palette to create these original oil paintings.
Kathryn enjoys leaving just enough room in her paintings for our imagination to create its own stories.
The frame is two-tone, hand-painted in Farrow and Ball
